I can't remember the title, nor the exact words, but it's something like, 'if I can stop one tear from falling....I shall not have lived in vain'. Sorry, can't be more specific.

I used it as an example to practise calligraphy & it has stayed with me.

If I can stop one Heart from breaking
I shall not live in vain
If I can ease one Life the Aching
Or cool one Pain

Or help one fainting Robin
Unto his Nest again
I shall not live in Vain.

I am going back to school and i am doing poetry right now. I am reading poems by emily dickinson. I am having trouble under standing what she is trying to sa in this poem if any one could can u please write back and help me........
SUCCESS is counted sweetest
By those who ne'er succeed.
To comprehend a nectar
Requires sorest need.

Not one of all the purple host
Who took the flag to-day
Can tell the definition
So clear, of victory,

As he, defeated, dying,
On whose forbidden ear
The distant strains of triumph
Break, agonized and clear.
