Dear Readers,

Tagore's poetry is the very essence of spirituality in poetry. His quiet and unobtrusive references to the Deity subtley inspire at all levels of thinking and feeling.

If you enjoy other poets of spirituality, please offer their names and perhaps an excerpt of a poem you enjoy.

Thank you for visiting Poetry at Suite101.com

I agree with you about Rabindranath Tagore. I recently came across his short verses in 'Fireflies', and find them remarkable.

I think most poetry has elements of the spiritual, either expressed or intimated. For example, Rilke's: "And then the knowledge comes to me that I have space within me for a second, timeless, larger life." from 'I Love My Being's Dark Hours'

Thanks for aking.

Dear motsage,

Thank you for posting. It's always a pleasure to hear from someone who appreciates spiritual poetry. And Tagore is certainly one of the most endearing.

Thanks again for responding.
