The Poetry Site at the Library of Congress

If you love to poke around for tidbits of information, the Library of Congress offers a site filled with interesting and insightful stuff about poets and poetry.


John Tyler was president of the United States from 1841-1845. When he was happy, he wrote poetry, according to his biographer Robert Seager. Tyler married when in office and wrote his poem, "Sweet Lady, Awake!" to his wife while they were on their honeymoon.

The Poetry web site at the Library of Congress also features videos of such poets as Langston Hughes.
