The Haiku Society of America, which was founded forty years ago by Harold G. Henderson and Leroy Kanterman, exists to advance the reading, writing, and study of the ancient Asian art of haiku. The organization boasts approximately 800 members worldwide. They have regular meetings, and they sponsor contests, lectures, readings, and workshops.
In addition to their magazine Frogpond, they publish a quarterly newsletter to inform members about their meetings and announce their national and international events. The organization’s Web presence can be experienced at The Haiku Society of America.
