Two very different poets have finished as first place favorites of Poetry’s poll participants.

The most recent poll asked the question: “Of the following poets, which one do you most admire?” The choices were Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, Sylvia Plath, W. B. Yeats, and Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

I was heartened that every poet received a percentage of the vote. They stack up a follows:

Sharing first place:

  • Robert Frost 30.77%
  • Sylvia Plath 30.77%

Sharing second place:

  • Emily Dickinson 15.38%
  • W. B. Yeats 15.38%

Coming in third:

  • Elizabeth Barrett Browning 7.69%
